Siblings Nick, Adonis, and Apollonia Xylouris bring the traditional folk music of their ancestral home back to local audiences. Hailing from the mountain village of Anogeia, the epicentre of the movement, XYLOURIDES are the direct descendants of Cretan music icons Nikos Xylouris, Psarantonis, and Psaragiorgis. The siblings are modern exponents of this ancient art form, infusing traditional modes and patterns with a youthful energy while maintaining the strict discipline passed down through generations. The performance features the synergy of Nick’s fast-paced lyra and Adonis’ rhythmic lauto, driven by the pulse of Apollonia’s percussion and their three-part vocal harmonies. Having previously sold out their Melbourne shows and closed the Antipodes Festival, XYLOURIDES continue to connect Australian audiences with Cretan folk traditions. The Cretan siblings also perform together as the punk rock trio FRENZEE who will be touring Australia across November behind their brand new album, 'Runnin' Amok' and opening for Foo Fighters at Marvel Stadium.
